Hello Again!

In my practice and my life, I’ve been described as warm, direct, and authentic.

This was my personal work long before it was something I worked with professionally. I have decades of lived experience with dieting, an eating disorder, body shame and weight stigma. About 20 years ago, I remember being so fed up after avoiding yet another social event. I thought, ā€œThis can NOT be what the rest of life looks and feels like. There has got to be more, right?ā€

And so my own journey with this stuff began. I don’t have the magic wand for this (I wish) but I do know that life is infinitely better when I stopped self-abandoning. I can definitely help you with that.

Our paths will be different. I strongly believe that you are the boss of your body.
It does mean, though, that I get certain things because I’ve been there.
I can attest to the fact that. ā€œjust love yourselfā€ is wildly missing the point. And I also know that there are so many valid and awesome ways to be in a body- and that EVERY. SINGLE. BODY. is worthy and deserving of respect, dignity, and care (yes- absolutely yours included).

My approach is relational, fat positive and body liberation aligned. I draw from practices such as Internal Family Systems (IFS), Health at Every Size (HAES), Body Trust, Embodied Recovery for Eating Disorders, somatic and feminist theory.

I have been working with eating disorders and body image in private practice for over 10 years as well as doing consultations, creating groups, workshops and trainings on topics such as fat liberation, creating a weight inclusive practice and HAES 101/201. I am also in training to become a certified Body Trust provider.

Before private practice, I worked in multiple university counseling centers and residential therapeutic communities.

Look, I love a good professional head shot. AND I also value a real everyday picture. I took this one of myself on a random March afternoon last year before starting my virtual sessions for the day.
